Eric W. Johnson is a long-time resident of the of South Bay, residing in and contributing to this community for more than 20 years. A retired officer with the San Diego Police Department (SDPD), Eric has more than 20 years in law enforcement. In addition to his SDPD experience, Eric was a federal agent serving as a criminal investigator with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. Federal service began as a college student when Eric worked five fire seasons with the federal Bureau of Land Management as a wild land firefighter. Much of this time was spent as a member of the helitack crew, jumping into fires from a helicopter.
Growing up and attending college in Nevada, Eric’s federal law enforcement career took him to Alaska and then California where he attended law school and made his home. Eric graduated Magna Cum Laude from Thomas Jefferson School of Law where he participated on Law Review and interned with the Federal District Court, all while working full time and helping to raise two young children. Earning an undergraduate degree from the University of Nevada at Reno in Accounting with a minor in Business prepared Eric for his work with the IRS as well as his current practice focus in finance-related legal issues.
Eric has a strong belief in contributing to one’s community. Learning this early as a Boy Scout, for many years Eric had the distinction of being the youngest Scout in Nevada to rise to the rank of Eagle Scout when he was just 14 years old. Continuing this in the South Bay, he was a room parent when his children attended elementary school as well as a member of the School Site Council at Clear View Elementary School. Eric is an active member of the Chula Vista Kiwanis Club, a board member of the South Bay Bar Association, a member of the Chula Vista Chamber of Commerce, and a proud supporter of the South Bay Family YMCA.
Eric resides in Chula Vista with his wife, Lisa, the Associate Executive Director of the South Bay Family YMCA, and his daughter Nora, a student at High Tech High. Eric and Lisa’s oldest daughter, Carra, graduated from Eastlake High School and attends college at the University of Southern California (USC).
Understanding the needs of family, business, and community, Eric can help you cope with life’s little surprises. While no one expects to need an attorney, life can be unpredictable and when that happens, you need someone you can trust. Planning for the future of your family is a big responsibility. While none of us likes to think about our mortality, having an estate plan, will, and trust in place makes future planning sound and secure. Identify someone you can trust to help you make these important decisions.
